Liquid Interactive’s collaboration with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, video production studio Maitree House, and our co-design partners has been honoured at this year’s TechDiversity Awards.

Our NDIS online training project won the Tech For Good category and was declared the night’s Champion – the overall winner of all entries across five categories.

The accolades recognise our most crucial collaborators – people with disability and people working in the disability sector – and the huge impact of amplifying their voices to help upskill NDIS workers.

Liquid’s Director of Strategy Fiona Armstrong said: "This was a project about amplifying the voices of people who are amongst the most marginalised in our society, so we are delighted it was recognised by the TechDiversity award judges and awarded the overall Champion’s award.

"It shows what can be achieved when diversity is at the heart of a project. Designed through an inclusive co-design and production process, this award goes to all of those who worked with us in the creation of the online learning programs."

The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission said: "These modules demonstrate – from the perspective of people with disability – what quality and safe NDIS services look like. They highlight our commitment to keeping people with disability at the heart of what we do, in our ambition to be a contemporary, purpose-centred regulator."

The online training modules help NDIS workers to improve communication with people they support by building understanding of different communication styles and preferences; and to understand how to best support safe and enjoyable mealtimes.

The online modules were created based on principles of accessibility, collaboration and co-design, resulting in engaging and authentic resources that speak directly to the target audience. The goal was to build the capacity of NDIS workers to better support people with disability and meet their obligations under the NDIS Code of Conduct.

To achieve this, the solution brought together a range of experts to improve on previous modules in both content and form, including having subject matter experts and people with disability involved as co-designers and presenters within the material.

The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission is the independent agency established to improve the quality and safety of NDIS supports and services. Its education activities are aimed at strengthening the skills and knowledge of NDIS workers to provide quality and safe supports and services for NDIS participants.

Our video production partner Maitree is a digital studio specialising in thought-provoking content, social-impact storytelling and immersive reality (XR) experiences connecting people, places and communities.

TechDiversity is an industry alliance committed to amplifying diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE+I) and achieving a culture of belonging through conversation, collaboration, and action.

The TechDiversity Awards recognise individuals and groups that have demonstrated leadership and embraced DE+I by raising awareness and promoting initiatives and programs that have had an impact.
